Reduce no-shows with automated reminders

June 26, 2026

Reminders are the single highest-leverage way to reduce no-shows — but only if they're timed and worded well. Here's a playbook that works.

Send more than one

A single reminder helps; a sequence helps more:

  • A confirmation the moment the appointment is booked
  • A reminder 24 hours before
  • A short nudge a few hours before the visit

Use the right channel

SMS gets opened within minutes; email is better for longer details like preparation instructions or intake forms. Use both, each for what it does best.

Make rescheduling easy

Many no-shows are really "I couldn't make it and didn't know how to change it." Include a one-tap way to reschedule, and you'll recover slots that would otherwise vanish.

Keep the tone human

A warm, personal message — "Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow at 2pm" — outperforms a cold automated notice. Personalization signals that a real practice is expecting them.

Measure and adjust

Watch your no-show rate over time. Small timing tweaks often produce outsized improvements.

Automated SMS and email reminders are built into Tipulim and turned on by default.
